IRNA – Iran’s positive vote to the resolution on violation of human rights in Myanmar was registered at United Nations (UN) on Tuesday, FM spokesman said.
Bahram Qasemi condemned brutal crimes by military forces against Muslims in Myanmar.
“Thanks to Iran’s principled foreign policies, its positive vote was registered today,” he added.
Commenting on some considerations which caused delay in Iran’s vote, he said, 'During the three previous decades, Iran has continuously protested against politicization and discriminatory approach taken by the United Nations General Assembly.
“Despite the fact that human rights resolutions have always received negative vote by Iran, but due to the depth of the crimes in Myanmar Iran slammed the Myanmar moves and stressed on resolute support of Rohingya Muslims,” Qasemi noted.
“Iran positive vote to this resolution highlights the country’s principled position in refuting politicized procedure in investigating human rights,” he said.
