IRNA – Iran was elected as the vice chairman of Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
Iran’s Permanent Ambassador and Permanent Representative in the OPCW Ali-Reza Jahangiri was appointed as the vice chairman of the body and Iran’s membership in the executive council until 2020 was also confirmed by the members.
As an active member of the OPCW, Iran has already been the chairman of the Asian group and secret committee.
The OPCW conference convenes once a year to investigate the recent developments in curbing the chemical weapons and the process of annihilation of the weapons.
The 2017 conference started on November 27.
