IRNA – The Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri arrived in Sochi, Russia, to take part in the 16th meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s (SCO) member states.
Jahangiri was welcomed by Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mahdi Sanaee and some local authorities. Jahangiri is to address the two-day event.
His speech will focus on making use of the SCO capacities in line with developing regional cooperation.
During the SCO meeting, Jahangiri will also talk about Iran's technical, scientific and economic capacities in the post-Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) era.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a permanent intergovernmental international organization, the creation of which was announced on 15 June 2001 in Shanghai (China) by Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Pakistan and India were granted membership in 2017.
