Algeria hosts Iranian cinematic productions

13 May 2013 - 13:10

Algeria has held the first Iranian Film Week in an attempt to introduce the Persian culture and cinematic development in this African country.
Iranian prominent directors Seyyed Reza Mirkarimi and Kamal Tabrizi along with several Algerian cultural officials attended the opening ceremony of this cultural event.

Selected by the Algerian Ministry of Culture, a number of movies were screened at the event.

A Cube of Sugar by Reza Mirkarimi, About Eli by Asghar Farhadi, A Piece of Bread by Kamal Tabrizi and Mainline by Rakhshan Bani-Etemad were among the movies that represented Iran’s cinema in Algeria.

“I was acquainted with the new Algerian cinema at Carthage Film Festival 2012 in Tunisia where I served as a jury member,” Mirkarimi said in an interview in Algeria.

Different cultural panels about Iranian cinema were also held on the sidelines of the event with Algerian directors and producers.

Organized by Algerian Ministry of Culture and Iran’s Cultural Attaché Office, the event kicked off on May 9, 2013.
