IRNA – Iranian lawmakers discussed the latest developments on the ground in the Iraqi Kurdistan region in Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission session on Sunday.
The commission session was attended by former Iranian ambassador to Iraq Hassan Danaeifar, according to commission spokesman Hossein Naqavi Hosseini.
The former Iranian diplomat described the Iraqi Army's military operations in Kirkuk, where it dominated over the city and hoisted the Iraqi flag over the governmental organizations, Naqavi Hosseini said.
Iraqi central government continued with its advancements and deployed forces in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah and the oil field is now under Baghdad's control, Danaeifar was quoted as saying by Naqavi Hoseini.
On the case of the attack on the Iranian consulate in Erbil, the former diplomat said that the necessary measures have been taken by Kurdish officials in this regard.
