Azerbaijan after developing all-out ties with Iran

IRNA – Deputy Commander of Azerbaijan naval forces Sobhan Bakirov stressed developing political, economic and cultural relations with Iran.


Bakirov made the remarks Friday in a meeting with Anzali Governor Mir Shams Momenizadeh.

The meeting was held after Azerbaijan first peace, friendship naval fleet docked in Bandar Anzali, in northern province of Gilan.

Bakirov pointed to good relations between Iran and Azerbaijan and he expressed hope for both countries to maintain military cooperation.

Exchange of similar visits by officials of the two countries would reinforce ties between two capitals, he said.

The Azeri commander also expressed Azerbaijan readiness to increase mutual cooperation in cultural, economic, trade and tourism fields.

Meanwhile, Momenizadeh voiced Iran's interest to promote bilateral cooperation to create peace and security for the Caspian Sea littoral states.

The Azeri friendship fleet which includes a Stinka G124 warship arrived in Bandar Anzali under Colonel Sobhan Bakirov, deputy commander of Azerbaijan Republic Navy.

Major programs on the Azeri fleet agenda included meeting with commander of Iran’s north fleet, paying tribute to Iranian martyrs, holding separate talks with governor general of Gilan Province and governor of Bandar Anzali as well as visiting provincial historic and tourism sites.
