Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says under the pretext of establishing democracy, imperialist powers occupy nations across the world.
Addressing a gathering of people in the city of Sari in north Iran on Wednesday, Ahmadinejad pointed to efforts made by certain powers to start conflicts between Shias and Sunnis.
Ahmadinejad added that the enemy is trying to spread the conflict in the Middle East region, advising all nations to beware of enemy plots and talk out their differences.
The president noted that some of the groups and grouplets in the region, which have been on friendly terms with Israel since their emergence, claim to be advocates of freedom and democracy.
“This is while they have never held an election and turn the oil money of nations into weapons,” Ahmadinejad said.
The US, Saudi Arabia, UAE and the Israeli regime are all partners in supporting armed militants, including al-Qaeda-linked terrorists, which aim to destabilize and overthrow the government of President Bashar Al-Assad in Syria.
On April 19, The New York Times reported that US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel was to finalize weapons deals worth USD 10 billion with Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during his visit to the Middle East.
The paper also cited “one senior official” as saying that the new sale of the unidentified missiles to Saudi Arabia and the UAE is to address what he described as “the threat posed by Iran.”
