MNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi has condemned Thursday's terrorist attack in Spain’s Barcelona, where at least 13 people were killed and over 100 others were injured.
Ghasemi called all peacekeeper countries to responsibly and credibly form a global alliance against violence, insecurity and terrorism.
Ghasemi said that global problems should be settled using international solutions and called for a global unity against terrorism.
He also condoled with and expressed sympathy for bereaved families of the terrorist attack victims.
FM spokesman further warned against growing terror attacks across the globe, saying no country – even the obvious and secret supporters of terrorists – is immune to terrorism’s threats.
"Following the widespread defeat of the extremist terrorists in the region, the spread of terrorist operations around the world is on the agenda of these perpetrators, and the killing of civilian and innocent people is their sinister goal," he noted.
Ghasemi called all countries, in spite of any possible controversy, to put their prime priority on the fight against terrorism and extremism to eradicate these death traders. He also expressed Iran’s readiness for cooperation with the global community in fighting against terrorism.
At least 13 people were killed and 100 injured on Thursday when a driver deliberately slammed a van into crowds on Barcelona's most popular street in what police confirmed was a terrorist attack. Hours later, police said they had shot dead "four suspected terrorists" and left another injured in Cambrils, a city south of Barcelona.
