MNA – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has appointed two women to vice-presidency positions and one to Aide to the President for citizenship rights for his second-term cabinet.
In separate orders, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani appointed Dr. Masumeh Ebtekar as Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs, Dr. Laya Joneidi as Vice President for Legal Affairs, and Dr. Shahindokht Molaverdi as Aide to the President for Citizenship Rights.
Two of the three positions had already been occupied by women during Rouhani’s first term in office. Molaverdi served as Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs, while Aminzadeh served as Rouhani’s aide for citizenship rights.
Aminzadeh previously served as Vice President for Legal Affairs under Rouhani and was later succeeded by Majid Ansari.
Masumeh Ebtekar had been the head of Environmental Protection Organization since 2013.
The president’s appointment of the three women came a day after his announcement of key cabinet members which did not include any female ministers, despite high expectations from his second-term cabinet to include more women in key positions.
