Tasnim– Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi has been appointed as the new commander of Tehran’s Law Enforcement Force, a spokesman said.

Spokesman for the Iranian Police Brigadier General Saeed Montazer-al-Mahdi told Tasnim on Monday that the country’s Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari has picked General Rahimi as the new head of Law Enforcement Force of the capital.

Rahimi formerly served as the police chief of the southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.

The spokesman added that Brigadier General Hossein Sajedinia, who previously served as the commander of Tehran Police Force, has been appointed as the new Police Operations Deputy Commander.

The Law Enforcement Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran is the uniformed police force in the country. The force was created in early 1992. It has more than 60,000 police personnel, including border guard personnel, and is under the control of the Ministry of Interior. In 2003, some 400 women became the first female members of the police force since the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
