IRNA - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arabic and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari and the Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin on Wednesday discussed developments in Syria.
Jaberi Ansari and Fomin discussed de-escalations zones and the draft of documents under discussion between Tehran, Ankara and Moscow in this regard.
Preparations for holding the expert level meeting of Syria in Tehran and the high-profile meeting in the Kazakh capital were also discussed in the meeting between high profile Iranian and Russian officials.
Jaberi Ansari also had a meeting with his Russian and Iraqi counterparts Mikhail Bogdanov and Nazar Khairallah, respectively on Wednesday.
Jaberi Ansari also met Bogdanov on Tuesday. He arrived in Moscow on Tuesday.
Efforts and initiatives by Iran, Russia and Turkey in Syrian-Syrian talks which is held in Kazakhstan's capital, Astana, have so far led to establishing comprehensive ceasefire and de-escalation zones in Syria. Latest developments with these regards will be discussed by Iranian and Russian officials.
The visiting Iranian official will also hold meetings with other officials of the Russian research centers and Syria's political officials.
Iran, Russia and Turkey in the fourth round of Astana talks on May 5 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for establishing de-escalation zones in some parts of Syria's Idlib, Homs, Eastern Ghouta, Dara'a, and Quneitra, aimed at easing conflicts.
The next round of Astana talks is scheduled for late August.
