Mexico asks for development of economic ties with Iran

FNA- Mexican Ambassador to Tehran Alfonso Zegbe underlined his country's willingness to consolidate economic and trade relations and cooperation with Iran.

Zegbe made the remarks in a meeting with Chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in Tehran on Wednesday.

He underscored development and expansion of cooperation between the two countries, and said that in recent years good opportunities were emerged in political, economic and trade relations, which could be used in direction of consolidation of ties.

The senior diplomat called for more reciprocal visits by the two countries' businesspersons, and said it could be a prelude to development of economic relations.

Zegbe also underlined on continued consultations and dialogues between the officials of the two countries in the international circles.

In relevant remarks in May, Zegbe underlined the need for broadening of mutual cooperation between Mexico City and Tehran.

"We are willing to cooperate with Iran in the economic and trade fields," Zegbe said in a meeting with Chairman of Alborz Chamber of Commerce Rahim Bana Molayee in Karaj city.

He reiterated that Mexico exports food and canned products to China, Malaysia, Japan, Philippines and the US, and said, "We are ready to cooperate with Iran in the field."

Zegbe, meantime, pointed to the Mexican commercial cooperation with Muslim countries in the field of Halal food products, and said that his country could produce and export Halal food to those countries, under Iran’s Halal license.

Calling Bandar Abbas’s Customs a suitable place for Iran-Mexico’s commercial exchanges, the Mexican ambassador expressed the hope that the agreements between the two countries might provide the ground for business relations.
