IRNA – Fifty five flotillas have been dispatched so far to the Gulf of Aden to provide security for some 4,000 commercial ships and oil tankers in the open waters, said the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Navy Commander.
“Iran’s Naval flotillas have been deployed in line with the international laws to provide the security of commercial ships and oil tankers passing through the Gulf of Aden, a region which has become insecure due to piracy,' said Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari .
“Today, the naval flotillas of the Islamic Republic of Iran are exercising their naval and defense diplomacy by displaying the Iranian and Islamic culture, knowledge, science and identity in the ports and seas, nullifying the Iranophobic plots in the world,” he added.
He affirmed that the Naval forces for their strong presence in the open seas require modern equipment, including warships, destroyers, rocket launchers, which are fortunately manufactured in Iran, gaining a special status for Iran in the world.
He also said that this year, as the result of the efforts made by Iranian experts, warships, destroyers and rocket launchers would be launched in the northern and southern waters of Iran.
