RNA – President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that the true winners of the May 19 elections were the Iranian people and the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.


“People elected what they really wanted from their hearts and now we have to shoulder our responsibility with patience, ' the President said while addressing a group of people at a fast breaking (Iftar) ceremony.

He added that the 8% economic growth, the single-digit inflation rate, and open trade with the world are among what the government has achieved so far.

President Rouhani also noted, “Exports of Petroleum and liquid gas in the first two month of the current Iranian calendar year (starting from March 20) stood at 2.5m barrels … We have revived our market, and regained people’s rights, what was the people’s desire.”

Winning a landslide victory in the May 19 presidential elections by obtaining over 23.4 million votes, President Rouhani was re-elected as Iran's 12th president.
