IRNA – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei gave a 3,130 million rials (around $85,000) aid to help free 7,500 prisoners held in jails on unintentional crimes.

Ayatollah Khamenei allocates a sum of money every year for this purpose.

Meanwhile, President Hassan Rouhani has also given a 2,700 million rials (around $73,000) aid to help free inmates held in jails on unintentional crimes.

Heads of the executive and judicial branches of the government each pay 500 million rials (around $13,000) aid to secure the freedom of Iranians in jail.

The Iranians participate in a feast every year to help free their fellow-countrymen jailed due to their incapability to pay for their debts.

People from across Iran take part in this charity-like move to free their compatriots.
