Unprecedented electoral enthusiasm among US Iranians

12 May 2017 - 12:01

IRNA – There is great electoral enthusiasm among Iranian expatriates living in the United States who are eager to gain information on May 19 presidential elections, says Deputy Director of the Islamic Republic of Iran Interest Section in Washington.

“A large number of Iranians, especially Iranian university students have called on the office for the Islamic Republic Interest Section in Washington, asking for information about the upcoming presidential poll,” Abolfazl Mehrabadi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Thursday.

“Compared to the previous elections, there seems to be an unprecedented electoral enthusiasm among Iranians, particularly young Iranian university students, to participate in the landmark political event,” Mehrabadi said.

“Fifty-six electoral voting stations have been set up in different cities across the United States,” he said.

According to Mehrabadi, most of the polling stations have been set up in the states of California, Florida and Texas, where more Iranians live.
