Tasnim– Iranian President Hassan Rouhani congratulated his Kyrgyz counterpart on the 25th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic ties between the two countries, expressing confidence that the bilateral relations would serve regional peace and stability.

In a message to Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev on Wednesday, Rouhani hailed the “great strides” that Tehran and Bishkek have taken over the past 25 years within the framework of mutual respect and common interests.

He also expressed confidence that Iran and Kyrgyzstan will proceed with close interaction to serve the interests of the two nations and ensure regional and international peace and stability.

President Rouhani then underlined that tackling regional threats and challenges requires “constructive interaction and cooperation and synergy among all Central Asian countries”, noting that mutual consultations would contribute to sustainable security and closer ties.

Kyrgyzstan is a landlocked country in Central Asia. It gained independence after dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Iran was among the first countries establishing diplomatic relations with Kyrgyzstan by opening an embassy in Bishkek in 1992.
