Zarif meets Georgian minister of economy

IRNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met on Tuesday with Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgia Gakharia in Tbilisi and talked on expanding cooperation between the two countries.

In the meeting, which was held after talking with his Georgian counterpart Mikheil Janelidze, different aspects of the economic cooperation, including trade, transit, banking and finance were discussed.

The visiting Foreign Minister Zarift referred to transit, industry, education and cooperation in international organizations and regional issues as the most important cooperation fields.

He said that the Persian Gulf corridor to the Black Sea is another opportunity which will make the countries in the region closer to each other after being implemented.

Reducing the shipping costs and boosting cooperation between Iran, Azerbaijan and Armenia are other benefits of the waterway.

Zarif is on a tour to three Central Asian and Caucasian countries. The trip takes place on the eve of the 25th independence anniversary of these countries. He will visit Kirgizstan after leaving Georgia.
