IRNA – Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan and the Russian Defense Minister Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoygu on Tuesday underlined bilateral cooperation for striking further decisive and annihilating blow to terrorists in Syria.
During a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Dehqan said that the US missile attack on the al-Shayrat Airfield in Syria was a breach of all international rules and regulations and aimed at boosting the terrorists’ spirit.
US first aggression on Syrian Army’s positions under Donald Trump began on Friday morning by launching 59 missiles at Shayrat Airfield in Homs province.
The attack was carried out under the pretext of the use of chemical weapons allegedly by Syrian President Bashar al- Assad’s government against its own people, a claim strongly rejected by Damascus.
It was also conducted without the permission of the UN Security Council or the US Congress consent.
Dehqan said that the missile attack aimed at repairing the damaged image of US President Donald Trump inside that country and deviating the US public opinion from the country’s domestic problems.
Referring to the US efforts for making an international consensus against Syria’s legitimate government, Dehqan said that the US recent move showed that the new rulers of the white House are not honest in the promises they had made during their presidential campaigns for fighting against terrorists.
Terrorists should realize that they cannot continue their criminal acts anymore and the Americans should know that such actions, if repeated, will not remain unanswered, added the Iranian defense minister.
Dehqan noted that the US should pay a heavy price for repetition of such measures.
He stressed that the resistance front is committed to continue its anti-terror actions.
Meanwhile, the Russian defense minister underlined the necessity of reinforcing the Syrian Army and popular forces against terrorists.
Russia is committed to use all its political and military capacities to strike decisive blows to terrorists and tighten the noose on them and their supporters, Shoygu added.
