Tasnim – An official at the office of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the president’s planned visit to Russia at the invitation of Vladimir Putin will take place soon.
In a post on his Twitter account on Wednesday, Political Deputy of Iran’s Presidential Office Hamid Aboutalebi said Rouhani’s “major and historic trip” to Russia will occur soon.
The official visit will come in view of “Iran’s international position, strategic capabilities and regional power,” he added.
He also highlighted the need for discussion about international developments and interaction among major regional powers for contributing to regional stability and the fight against terrorism.
In February, the Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov had confirmed President Rouhani’s visit to Moscow, saying, "Yes, the visit is being prepared. It may take place at the end of March”.
Russia and Iran hold regular and close consultation concerning the latest developments in the region, Syria in particular, toward coordinating their efforts in helping restore security to Western Asia and the Arab country.
