IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif voiced Iran’s readiness for cooperation with The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to work out new population-related policies.
In a meeting with new envoy of the international entity Leila Siji Judan on Monday, Zarif referred to the record of good cooperation between Iran and the fund, underlining the need for further collaboration between the sides on the basis of values prevailing in the Islamic countries.
Given the increasing trend in the country’s population aging, Zarif voiced Iran’s preparedness for collaboration with the UNFPA to devise new population-related policies.
He said that presence of the entity’s envoy in Tehran is a good opportunity for Iran's cooperation in its ongoing projects and create a role model for other regional states.
Judan, for her part, voiced UNFPA’s support for the Islamic Republic of Iran national strategy in connection with population policies to achieve population opportunities in the future.
