Zarif, Indonesian president discuss issues of mutual interest

IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif met with the Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Tuesday.

At the meeting that was held on the sidelines of the IORA Summit in Jakarta, the two sides stressed the importance of developing bilateral cooperation.

The two also reviewed the international and regional questions.

Zarif, in the meeting, appreciated Indonesia for providing proper facilities for holding the IORA meetings that started on March 5 in Jakarta.

The IORA Leaders Summit was preceded by the Committee of Senior Officials Meeting held on March 5, and the Council of Ministers Meeting on March 6 in Indonesia.

Zarif further expressed satisfaction over the current trade exchange between the two countries, adding the implementation of the power projects by the Iranian companies in Indonesia is in line with further development of bilateral cooperation.

The top diplomat called for oil and energy relations between Tehran and Jakarta.

Zarif said the exchange of delegations would help achieve that end.

Elaborating on regional developments and the fight against terrorism, Zarif said Iran pursues strengthening of stability and security in the region.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian president called for further bilateral relations in the fields of oil, energy and investment as well as exchange of non-oil products.

President Widodo also underlined the importance of removing banking obstacles to bilateral cooperation.
