IRNA - Indonesian Special Envoy Hassan Wirajuda met on Sunday with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and submitted him an invitation letter sent by Indonesian President Joko Widodo inviting President Hassan Rouhani to attend the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).


Indonesian President Joko Widodo is now chairing IORA.

In the meeting, the Indonesian envoy expressed satisfaction over his visit to Tehran, and said Indonesian president as head of IORA has extended the invitation letter to President Hassan Rouhani to attend IORA in March, 2017.

Iran’s foreign minister welcomed the invitation and said the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches special importance to IORA, he said.

He wished for successful conduct of IORA by Indonesia.

The Islamic Republic of Iran heralds fight against extremism and has offered such resolution to the General Assembly of the United Nations, he said.

Zarif also voiced satisfaction with the current level of mutual cooperation between the two countries.

The IORA conference is to be held during March 5-7 in Jakarta of Indonesia.
