IRNA – Avalanche in Damavand, a district northeast of Tehran, has killed three and injured two others.
Deputy Governor General of Tehran, Hassan Karimi, told IRNA on Friday that the two injured had been retrieved from the snow alive.
Karimi said the incident occurred early Friday morning and four cars were buried under tonnes of snow.
Head of the Road Office of the cities of Pardis and Roudehen, Mohammad-Ali Tolouie-Moqaddam, who was in the area for relief aid, lost his life.
Managing Director of the Islamic Republic Red Crescent Society’s Tehran branch Hossein Ketabdar told IRNA that relief and rescue operations are underway and four sniffer dogs are now in the area for rescue purposes.
