IRNA - Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi said on Saturday that over 90 percent of the medicines consumed in Iran are produced inside the country.
Qazizadeh Hashemi made the remarks in the unveiling ceremony of a type of herbal medicine called ‘Melitropic’ which can be used in treating the Alzheimer in Alborz province in west of Tehran.
He added traditional medicine dates back to more than 200 years in Iran, expressing hope that the country pays due attention to herbal medicine in future.
Using the country’s ancient and indigenous knowledge in treating brain disorders, the Iranian researchers of Jihad University have succeeded in producing Melitropic herbal medicine.
