IRNA – Secretary General of the European External Action Service and the Union's Foreign Policy Deputy Chief for Coordination Helga Schmid says the sixth meeting of the Joint Commission of the JCPOA aimed to study Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif's letter.
In a message in Twitter on Tuesday, Schmid said the meeting of the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) also aimed at reviewing the accord's implementation.
'Meeting of Joint Commission of JCPOA in Vienna chaired by EU with E3+3 and Iran. Reviewing implementation of deal and letter from FM Zarif.'
The sixth meeting of the Joint Commission of the Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was held in Vienna with representatives of Tehran, the EU and the Group 5+1 in attendance.
The Group 5+1 delegation was headed by Schmid while the Iranian side by Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araqchi.
The meeting was held late Tuesday at the December 16 request of Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif to review the US violations of the JCPOA and extension of Iranian Sanctions Act (ISA).
Earlier Tuesday, Araqchi and Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi held talks with Schmid.
In another message on twitter Monday, Schmid underlined the EU's resolve to continue commitment to the JCPOA implementation.
'En route to Vienna to chair the Joint Commission of JCPOA with E3+3 and Iran tomorrow. Continued EU commitment to implement the deal.'
Zarif in an official letter to the EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini called for holding a session of the joint commission to probe into the US' extension of the ISA.
