TEHRAN, April 10 — Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabi defeated Iran’s Esteghlal 1-0 in Group D of the 2013 AFC Champions League, local media reported on Wednesday.
In the match held at Tehran Azadi stadium on Tuesday, Nawaf Al-Abid scored the only goal of the guests 11 minutes before half-time.

In another match of the same group, Qatar’s Al-Rayyan snatched a 2-1 win over Al-Ain of the UAE on Tuesday.

After four rounds of matches, Iran’s Esteghlal remained at the top of Group D with seven points, one ahead of Al-Ain, Al-Hilal and Al-Rayyan.

All four teams remain hopeful in the hunt for a place in the last 16 of the AFC Champions League from Group D.
