Judiciary chief urges ‘crushing response’ to May remarks

12 Dec 2016 - 22:39

MNA– Head of Judiciary has urged foreign policy machinery to prepare a ‘crushing response’ to Theresa May’s remarks during PGCC meeting earlier last week.

Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani who was addressing a meeting of Judiciary high-ranking officials on Monday, said that an old colonial power, who had been navigating thousands of miles to reach the Persian Gulf and a power which had practically intervened in the Middle Eastern affairs, “has now charged Iran with interfering in its neighbors’ affairs and meddling with the security of the region; British weapons are now used against civilians in Yemen and by ISIL in Iraq against Iraqi government; the country had been regular supporter of petty cruel rulers in the region; such state with a black record could not accuse others of fueling insecurity fire now raging in the Middle East,” Amoli Larijani addressed British officials.

“The government, we believe, should be in defensive and prepare due responses to such ludicrous remarks; they should understand that the time of empires had since long been dead, where queens and kings had been ruling their subjects through general illiteracy of the masses,” said the Judiciary head. “Such remarks should not be tolerated and those countries should seek trade relations with Iran while reiterating such stuff.”

On recent remarks by a Trump adviser who said that Islamic teachings and the Quran had systematically opposed modernity, Amoli Larijani believed such misinterpretations of the Islam were in harmony with a project of Islamophobia and indicated that the US officials had suffered a general gap in their knowledge of the Islamic teachings.
