Sputnik- Iran and Russia share a stance that Syrian territorial integrity must be protected, Ali Akbar Velayati, adviser to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said Tuesday.

TEHRAN (Sputnik) — Moscow and Tehran have been supporting the legitimate Syrian government in its struggle against numerous terrorist groups, such as Daesh and al-Nusra Front, while the West insisted that Syrian President Bashar Assad should resign and supported Syrian rebels in their fight against the Syrian army.

"Iran and Russia have common ground in regard to the Syrian issue. One of them is prevention of the collapse of Syria and protection of its territorial integrity, these unites us with Russia," Velayati said.
