November 12, The Iran Project – Managing Director of the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) Sirus Kian Ersi has announced that Iran is preparing the world's largest tanker fleet to return to European markets and new international fields.
Having 69 ships and a capacity of 15.5 million tons, National Iranian Tanker Company is considered the world’s largest fleet of oil tankers, said Sirus Kian Ersi speaking to a reporter on Saturday.
Kian Ersi also referred to the company’s plans for the development of the fleet’s quality and quantity, like entering the new markets of LNG (Liqiud Natural Gas) with the participation of the international companies.
After the removal of international sanctions, the Islamic Republic has taken proper steps to launch LNG projects and negotiated with the international companies to build the complex in the country, he stressed.
Analysts of the global energy market believe that LNG trade has been increasing compared to the gas transportation through pipelines; accordingly, the countries that export gas should develop their presence in this sector.
Finally, speaking about the presence of National Iranian Tanker Company in international markets, he said given the sanctions’ removal, there will be proper conditions for the National Iranian Tanker Co. to increase its international interactions.
On January 16, Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council – the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia – plus Germany started implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) that they had clinched on July 14, 2015. Under the nuclear agreement, Iran agreed to limit its nuclear program in return for the termination of all nuclear-related sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
