Tasnim– Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko will pay a visit to Tehran later this month at the invitation of Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
Heading a parliamentary delegation, Matviyenko is expected to begin her two-day visit to Iran on November 13.
Apart from talks with Larijani, the Russian official will hold meetings with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in her trip.
The Federation Council is the upper house of the Federal Assembly of Russia, or the Russian parliament. Each of the 85 federal subjects of Russia -consisting of 22 republics- is represented by two senators in the Federation Council.
Iran and Russia have formed a strong alliance in recent years, with both supporting the Syrian government against foreign-backed militancy.
