TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian parliament will hold an open session on coming Tuesday, November 1, for a vote of confidence in President Hassan Rouhani’s new picks for three ministries.
Hossein Ali Amiri, the Iranian president’s aide in parliamentary affairs, told Tasnim on Friday that the fate of the three newly-proposed ministerial nominees will be determined in the legislature on Tuesday.
President Rouhani will personally attend the upcoming session to defend his proposed nominees to lead ministries of culture and Islamic guidance, sports and youth affairs, and education.
According to Amiri, the three ministerial hopefuls -Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, Masoud Soltanifar, and Fakhreddin Ahmadi Danesh Ashtiani- have held meetings with different parliamentary factions and members of the presiding board over the past days to explicate their plans.
Introduction of the new figures follows resignation of Ali Jannati, Mahmoud Goudarzi, and Ali Asghar Fani from the three ministries after assuming the posts for more than three years.
The developments come as the current administration’s term will end next year.
Iran’s presidential election will be held on May 19, 2017.
