Kuala Lumpur, Oct 13, IRNA – Iranian Minister of Culture and the Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati and Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture Mohajer Effendi on Wednesday called for cooperation on culture, art and education.
Jannati is currently on a visit to Bali, Indonesia, to attend ministerial meeting of World Culture Forum.
In the meeting held on Wednesday evening, Jannati said that Indonesia has special position in the Muslim World and that cooperation between the two countries would be effective to help resolve the issues of the Muslim World.
In spite of far geographical distance, the two countries have longstanding relations and Indonesian government, nation, leaders and Ulema have important role in the Muslim World.
Jannati called for implementation of cultural agreements already signed by Iran and Indonesia.
He encouraged Indonesia to sign cultural exchange program with Iran and set up joint cultural commission.
Considering cultural capacities of the two countries, the Iranian minister called for development of cultural, artistic and educational relations, especially in the field of cinema.
Jannati said that Iranian movies have shined in different international festivals and that Iran is ready to make its films, documentaries and TV series available to Indonesia.
He called for boosting cooperation in international and regional organizations, such as UNESCO and Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).
Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture Mohajer Effendi also underlined development of cooperation on culture, art, science and education.
He said that Indonesia is comprised of 17,000 islands and its population is 250 million, adding that religious minorities are living in Indonesia in peace and tranquility.
Ministerial meeting of World Culture Forum 2016 is to kick off in Bali on Thursday and the Iranian culture minister is expected to deliver speech.
