TEHRAN, Oct. 09 (MNA) – The Asian Filmmaker of the Year Award was granted to late Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami at the 21st Busan International Film Festival 2016 (BIFF) in South Korea.
The award was received by Ahmad Kiarostami (a son of the director) at the opening ceremony of BIFF 2016.
The event displayed a documentary entitled "Remembering Kiarostami" for the first time, prepared by the Center for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults and directed by Mehdi Ganji.
BIFF also displayed Kiarostami's movies in a special session for enthusiasts. Where Is The Friend's Home?, Close Up, And Life Goes On…, The Wind Will Carry Us, Shirin, Certified Copy and Like Someone in Love, are among the displayed movies in South Korea.
The Asian Filmmaker of the Year Award is awarded to Asian cineastes or organizations, which have made the most outstanding contribution to developing Asian film industry and culture.
