TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Jim Dabakis, a member of the Utah State Senate who visited Iran recently was kept under surveillance by the Intelligence forces during his trip, Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alawi told Iranian lawmakers.
Speaking to Tasnim, a lawmaker quoted Alawi as saying in a parliamentary session on Tuesday that the Intelligence Ministry keeps a close watch on all moves that could be part of hostile plots for infiltration into the country.
As an example, the minister has said, Dabakis’ recent visit to Iran was fully under control and he was indeed caught in the “intelligence web of the ministry”.
The US senator has visited Iran twice, but his latter trip was under full surveillance, Alawi has explained.
In September, KUTV, a local new agency in Salt Lake City, Utah, reported that Dabakis has returned from a summer trip to Iran.
It also quoted the state senator as saying that people of Iran are ready to mend relations with the US even if their government is not.
