TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani underlined the need for consensus among political groups in Iraq.

"Iran's policy is based on promotion of solidarity among Iraqi groups, including Shiite and Sunni Muslims as well as the Kurdish population," Larijani said in a meeting with Head of Iraqi National Intelligence Service Mustafa Kadhimi in Tehran on Tuesday.

The Iranian parliament speaker underlined Iran supports territorial integrity, solidifying unity and solidarity among all Iraqi political parties.

"Through unity and integration among all Iraqi groups, they can overcome current problems," Larijani added.

The Iranian parliament speaker said that Iran has always stood by the Iraqi government and nation and is fully ready to offer any kind of assistance.

In relevant remarks on Monday, Senior Advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Hossein Amir Abdollahian praised Iraq for its advances against the terrorist groups, stressing that Tehran will continue support for Baghdad in its war on terrorism.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran's policy is based on all-out support for the Iraqi government and nation in the fight against terrorism, and the regular and continued political and parliamentary consultations between the two countries' officials are important under the current conditions of the region," Amir Abdollahian said in a meeting with Iraqi Ambassador to Tehran Rajeh Saber Abboud al-Moussavi.

Al-Moussavi, for his part, said the two countries share similar views on regional and international issues, and called for more cooperation within the framework of common interests.

He also appreciated Iran's all-out support for his country's campaign against terrorism.
