Iranian athletes have collected 21 medals at the fifth edition of Asian Beach Games in Vietnam to finish fourth at the end of the sporting event.
The medals included nine golds, six silvers and six bronzes.
Vietnam stood atop the medal count table with 139 medals: 52 golds, 44 silvers, and 43 bronzes.
Thailand was second with 90 medals: 36 golds, 24 silvers, and 30 bronzes. China landed third with a total of 49 medals: 12 golds, 18 silvers and 19 bronzes.
On Sunday, Iran’s traditional martial artist Yaser Pormehr overcame Dang Tran Anh Tua from the host nation in the final contest of men’s under 50-kilogram weight division, and clinched the gold medal.
Later in the day, Seyed Mohsen Gholami defeated Tran Trung Hau, a representative from Vietnam, in men’s open final competition of traditional martial art and took the top honor.
Hossein Yazdani, another Iranian traditional martial artist, lost to Vietnam’s Nguyen Minh Hieu in men’s 65-kilogram to 70-kilogram division. He was awarded a silver medal.
The 5th edition of Asian Beach Games began in the south-central Vietnamese city of Da Nang on September 24, and concluded on October 3.
