TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israel has 200 nuclear weapons which all have been “pointed at Iran", according to former US secretary of state Colin Powell's leaked emails.
The former US secretary of state revealed the information in an email he sent to a colleague last year, which was obtained by the hacking group DCLeaks and published on LobeLog, a foreign policy blog, The Independent reported late on Friday.
He was writing to business partner and democratic donor Jeffrey Leeds regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to US Congress, warning them against last year’s nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), between Tehran and world powers.
In January 2016, Iran and six leading powers — the US, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany — started the implementation of the JCPOA reached in July 2015 when Tehran agreed to scale down its nuclear activities in return for lifting of some sanctions.
“Negotiators can’t get what he wants,” wrote Powell in the email.
“The boys in Tehran know Israel has 200, all targeted on Tehran, and we have thousands.”
With an estimated 200 to 400 nuclear warheads in its arsenal, the Israeli regime has refused to allow inspections of its military nuclear facilities or sign the international nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
