TEHRAN, Sep. 14 (MNA) – Terrorists from ISIL and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly known as the Nusra Front, are trying to derail the Syrian peace process with continued missile strikes at the government positions, the Russian military said Tuesday.
A nationwide ceasefire, brokered by Moscow and Washington, came into force in Syria at sunset on Monday. If the truce holds for a week, Russian and US air forces will begin coordinated airstrikes at Daesh targets.
"A total of 21 strikes at the government's positions and civilians have been registered in Aleppo province, Damascus, Hama, Idlib and Darayya since the previous day," Russia's Defense Ministry said in a statement published on its website.
The Russian reconciliation center for Syria said militants had shelled the district where the Aleppo governor resides.
