Tehran, Sept 6, IRNA – Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Tuesday that certain Western governments are seeking to exacerbate the situation in the region.
He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting President of French National Assembly Claude Bartolone.
Shamkhani said that any remarks about changing the political map and the geographical borders of the regional countries would escalate tensions in the region.
European countries impose sanctions on the Syrian government while the Syrian people are in dire need for international assistance in the areas under the control of Daesh and al-Qaeda, Shamkhani said, adding that it runs counter to the International Humanitarian Law.
He said that refusal to accept refugees and bad behavior with them by the European governments is far apart from human rights criteria and IHL.
