4 Sep 2016 - 16:18

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian troops, backed by the voluntary forces, liberated a major military academy south of the strategic city of Aleppo from the terrorist groups on Sunday.

The Syrian forces took full control of the premises of ‘Taslih’ military academy on the southern outskirts of Aleppo after heavy clashes with militants affiliated with the Jaish al-Fatah terrorist group.

The successful operation has also cut off the routes the terrorist groups used to connect with al-Ramouse region in the southern suburbs of Aleppo.

According to sources in the battlefield, the Syrian troops are making more advances in the Aleppo operation.

Syrian forces are busy fighting to recapture the northern city of Aleppo from terrorists. The security forces encircled Aleppo on July 17 after closing off the last terrorist-controlled route into the city.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
