TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei cautioned against hostile attempts, including false reports by UN special rapporteur on human rights in Iran, with the purpose of harming relations between the Islamic Republic and Europe.
Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Friday, Rezaei took a swipe at UN's Ahmad Shaheed for preparing “false reports” about Iran ahead of the European Parliament’s move to issue a document about Iran.
Rezaei slammed the reports for containing tens of pages of incorrect information about Iran, provided by the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) and Saudi Arabia.
The hostile attempts are aimed at forcing Europe to sever ties with Iran, he said.
On June 17, 2011, the UN Human Rights Council, under pressure from the US and its allies, named Shaheed as human rights rapporteur on Iran.
Tehran insists that the appointment of a UN special rapporteur on Iran’s human rights situation is a selective, politically-motivated and unacceptable move.
Shaheed, a former diplomat from the Maldives, has submitted several anti-Iran reports to the UN.
