Quito, Aug 24, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister met his Ecuadorean counterpart prior to a joint economic meeting on Wednesday and the two officials examined latest developments of mutual ties between Tehran and Quito.
Iran's top diplomat Mohammad Javad Zarif Guillaume Long during their meeting in the Ecuadorean capital explored ways to boost economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.
Development of ties in areas like shipping transportation, banking, and agriculture were among topics considered by the two sides.
The two foreign ministers met with each other and discussed issues of mutual interest before participating in economic meeting.
Scores of businessmen and traders from the Iranian and Ecuadorian public and private sectors were present at the meeting.
Zarif, heading a 120-member delegation is on a tour of Latin America in a bid to broaden economic cooperation between Iran and Latin American states.
The Iranian foreign minister was in Cuba on Monday and travelled to Nicaragua on Tuesday.
Zarif is expected to visit Chile, Bolivia and Venezuela later this week.
