TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani condemned the foreign military intervention in Yemen, and underlined the necessity for resolving the crisis in the Muslim country through talks.
"The crisis in Yemen can merely be settled through negotiations among the Yemeni groups and streams," Larijani said in a message on Tuesday in which he also congratulated the start of the Yemeni parliament's operation.
He deplored the Saudi-led military intervention, violation of human rights and massacre of the Yemeni civilians, and said, "I declare the Islamic Republic of Iran's all-out support for the oppressed Yemeni nation against foreign aggressors."
Larijani also underscored the Iranian legislature's readiness to increase cooperation with the Yemeni parliament in all fields.
His remarks came after the Saudi-led coalition warplanes intensified their airstrikes on residential areas across Yemen, targeting a hospital in Hajjah province just two days after killing and wounding a number of children at a school in Sa’ada province.
According to reports, the Saudi fighter jets targeted Ab'as Hospital in Hajjah province on Monday, killing and wounding at least 20 people.
Disturbing images of children killed in an airstrike on a religious school in Sa’ada province filled the media on Saturday. According to the latest report, at least 10 children were killed and 28 other were wounded in the air raid.
Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen since last March to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 9,800 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.
Despite Riyadh's claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, the Saudi bombers are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
According to several reports, the Saudi-led air campaign against Yemen has drove the impoverished country towards humanitarian disaster.
