Tehran, Aug 3, IRNA – The sixth group of Iranian athletes departed for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Wednesday.
The sixth group consists of the fencing and swimming athletes.
According to International Olympic Committee's schedule, Iranian swimming and fencing representatives will compete on August 9 and 10 respectively.
According to Iran's Olympic Team Chef de Mission Asghar Rahimi, Iran's squad has 18 flight groups including 15 sports ones and 3 groups consisting of the supervisory board and sports officials.
As the first group, supervisory board and officials went to Rio on July 22 and as the first sports group, Iran national volleyball team departed for Rio on July 26.
Iranian medical team went to Rio as the third flight group on July 27.
As the fourth flight group and the second sports group, fencing team went to Rio on July 28.
Iranian table tennis and archery teams as the third dispatched sports group left Tehran for Rio on July 30.
Iran's boxing team and the first group of cyclers together with Iran's national Judo team and the press representatives went to Rio as the 5th group on August 2.
Based on schedule, the first group of Iran's power lifting team is to depart for Rio on August 5 and Iranian Greco-Roman wrestling team is scheduled to go to Rio on August 8.
The Rio 2016 Olympic Games takes place from August 5 to 21, 2016. 10,500 athletes from 205 countries in 44 articles of 28 sports fields compete in the games.
