BEIRUT, Aug. 01 (MNA) – Head of Parl. Natl. Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi attached great significance to security in Lebanon and unity among all Lebanese groups and political parties.

Boroujerdi made the remarks among reporters upon his arrival in Beirut on Monday, while expressing his pleasure at being present in the friendly country of Lebanon.

“I am pleased that the visit has coincided with the anniversary of the resistance movement’s victory over the Israeli regime in the 33-day war of 2006,” Boroujerdi said, while describing the victory as the symbol of honor and dignity in the region.

He also commemorated Lebanon’s Armed Forces Day on August 1, and hailed their tremendous role in restoring stability to Lebanon by comforting Takfiri terrorists.

“I hope to see further steps taken in the future toward the resolution of all of Lebanon’s issues and strengthening the pillars of security and stability in the region,” he added.

To a question about Syria’s situation in the wake of Aleppo’s development, he said “I do believe that the resistance on the part of Syrian people and government, and in particular Bashar Assad as the president, as well as Lebanon’s resistance movement, will help improve the situation in Syria day by day.”

Boroujerdi and his accompanying delegation are scheduled to meet with Lebanese Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Tammam Salam, and Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil.

On his two-day visit, he is also slated to attend meetings with members of Hezbollah fraction in the Parliament, Palestinian groups in Lebanon and Muslim Scholars committee.
