July 31, The Iran Project –Following a recent visit to Israel by a delegation headed by a former military general, the people of Saudi Arabia stressed that the normalization of relations with Israel is a treachery.

Expressing their anger at the recent visit of Saudi retired General Anwar Eshki with Israeli officials, Saudi activists set up a hashtag in twitter which means “normalization of relations with Israel is a treachery” , emphasizing that perhaps the Palestinian people will never forget this measure.

Saudis also urged the government to react to the measures of such ignorant and unwise people, otherwise the visit will be a stigma in the history of Saudi Arabia that Arabic and Islamic nations will not forgive it.

Moreover, Arab elites strongly condemned the visit of Saudi retired General Anwar Eshki and a delegation of Saudi academics and business people with Israeli officials.

Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry is also trying to distance itself from the recent visit to Israel, saying the rare public engagement “does not reflect the views of the Saudi government.”

Retired General Anwar Eshki, who currently heads the Saudi Institute for Strategic Studies, travelled to Israel with a delegation of academics and business people and met Israel’s foreign ministry director general Dore Gold and Yoav Mordechai, who coordinates the Israeli regime's activities in the occupied territories.
