Accra, July 26, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif said on Tuesday that banking ties are available to Ghanaian businessmen for trade with Iran.
He made the remarks in his speech to Iran-Ghana Joint Economic and Trade Commission.
'I am pleased to see a big trade delegation from Iran came to Ghana,' Zarif said.
He said that trade ties with African continent, especially west of Africa is important for Iran.
He said that Iran and Ghana enjoy longstanding economic; trade and science cooperation.
Zarif said that Iran and Ghana are among developing countries and can be major trade partners in the context of south-south cooperation.
Sanctions on Iran were terminated and the ground for cooperation between businessmen of the two countries as well as financial and banking sector is well-prepared.
Ghana Foreign Minister Hanna Tetteh, for her part, said that Ghana government would consider the opportunities for cooperation both in public and private sector, especially in the field of banking and financial affairs.
She said that Ghana Foreign and Trade Ministries are ready to help the Iranian delegation mission become successful.
Zarif African tour began on Sunday and he visited Nigeria before coming to Ghana and is due to visit Guinea Conakry and Mali.
Directors from 38 economic companies are accompanying Zarif.
