Iran running 1600 projects in tourism sector: VP

June 21, The Iran Project – Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization says 1600 projects is now being run in the country’s tourism sector.

Masoud Soltanifar, head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting with tourism activists of Fars Province on Monday that the country’s tourism sector is now running 1600 projects of which 820 projects are one to five-star hotels and hotel apartments in different parts of the country.

Speaking about the financial facilities the country need to complete the projects, Soltanifar said we will provide them from the National Development Fund and the banking system.

Having completed these projects, during eight years, the country will build one and a half times the hotels that were built in the past 92 years, he added.

He went on to say that besides these projects, 1500 post-JCPOA projects were prepared and presented for domestic and foreign investment in three sectors of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism.

Iran is a country with high potential in tourism industry and since the JCPOA it’s geared up to make its mark in the industry.

Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri also announced earlier that the tourism growth has been remarkable after the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
