TEHRAN, March 5 — The Iranian Army Ground Force plans to stage military exercises in southwestern and central part of the country in the coming days, local media reported on Tuesday.
The first stage of the drills, code-named Khatam ol-Anbia, will start from Saturday in Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province and last for three days, Army’s Ground Force Commander General Ahmad- Reza Pourdastan was quoted as saying by semi-official Fars news agency.

The exercises aim at reinvigorating command and control capabilities under operational conditions, Pourdastan said, adding that “All the units stationed in southwestern Iran, including the mechanized, armored and artillery units, will take part in the exercises.”

The Army Ground Force also plans to stage a missile exercise in the central part of the country following the Khatam ol-Anbia exercises, said the Iranian commander.
